How to Make a Roleplay Character:
Name
The name of your character can be anything, but the important thing to remember is that easy names are better. If your character is named something like "Ebony Midnight Dementia Demon Midnight Way," your fellow players are going to hate it.
Keep it simple, and make sure you can type it over and over without getting too annoyed.
Also, make sure their name matches their heritage. If you have an English character with a Chinese name and no background as to why that is, it comes off as obnoxious and clueless.

Age
Here's where a lot of people screw up.
Your charrie's age will have a lot of impact on their actions. Depending on the situation, different ages are appropriate.
Remember, younger charries will not be able to do as much as older ones, yet older ones have more consequences for their actions! The "your age plus four" is a good method to use if you want to play an older charrie, and the "your age minus four" is good for playing a younger.

Appearance
Of course you need to know what your charrie looks like!
Don't go too crazy here. If the roleplay isn't in a fantasy setting, things like wings or weird hair colors are out of place. Even if it is in a fantasy setting, don't go overboard!
Everyone wants their charrie to be pretty, but remember that flaws make a charrie better. Don't be afraid to give your character an ugly scar, missing fingers, or anything else that might make them "less pretty." In reality, it makes them 100% better.
Other than that, go wild. This is your chance to get creative.

Personality
Here's where you can really and truly go wild.
The personality is how your charrie acts, talks, etc. You can make them anything. Just remember, you actually have to stick to that personality and make sure all of their actions and words match it later on. Try to choose something you can write easily about.
Weirdly enough, most roleplayers have an easier time writing for a charrie that is their complete opposite, so try that if a charrie too much like yourself feels odd.
Remember to add weaknesses here, too. Are they shy? Do they have a phobia or a sickness? Addictions, worries, doubts, etc? What are they good at, and what are they bad at? What do they hate, fear, love, and need?

History/ Bio
This is your character's past from before the current plot.
What was their childhood like? Their family? What were they like as a child? Have they changed? How, and why?
You can be a little dramatic about this, but don't make it too tragic. Be a little realistic.
It's often tempting to kill off your charrie's entire family, but sometimes it can be fun for them to have family still around to care and worry about, and it really fleshes them out as a person.
Just write about their lives before they ended up in your first post.

Other
The "other" section is usually there for you to write about any choice tidbits that you felt needed more detail that one section could give you. Feel free to explain something about your charrie in detail here.
Unique sections
While most forum-style forms and bio-style layouts follow this pattern, sometimes other sections are needed. Luckily, those sections, (like "powers" "skills" "pets" etc), are usually pretty easy to figure out.
