Deaths
Death of a Roleplay Thread
This is not as tragic as it sounds.
It's the phenomena of all the roleplayers of a thread in a forum becoming bored with a roleplay. This will almost always occur before the plot is finished.
On the rare occasions that you finish the plot and move into the rare sequel thread, expect that one to die within a month or sooner.
Why do threads die? Because people get bored. Sometimes, no matter how you try to spice things up, the thread will stay dead.
Warning signs include increased OOC complaints of writers' block.

Death of a Forum Community
Forums close, or everyone leaves for another site.
This is usually a slow, drawn out death that you'll hardly notice, most likely because you'll be moving as well.
A dead forum is like an abandoned city. You'll look around, feel sad and lost, then most likely move to whatever sites your old roleplaying friends have gone to for continued roleplaying fun.

Death of a Community
A community, (as in a convo roleplay made up of a colony of pages on a social media site), usually lasts about a year before it dies.
Depending on how early you joined, how influential you are, and how active you were determines how much this is going to hurt.
These die often because of excessive amounts of amateurs who cannot or will not improve their skills or bad trolls, (and, sometimes, good trolls who fail at their missions.) Often, several large fights wil continuously break out during the last few months of a community's life span, causing it to break into bits and pieces.
As fights continue to bubble up, bigger players and most old players will leave or stop roleplaying altogether. They might move to another social media site, or just abandon convo roleplays completely.
I can't tell you how to deal with this because everyone will react differently. All I can tell you is to be brave, stay strong, and not let it get to you too much or for too long.
